The same basic rules apply to a child: one person only, face from the front, eyes visible and a light plain background. A guardian may help prepare the child, but hands, toys, a high chair back or another person must not appear in the final image.

- Choose a time when the child is rested and calm.
- Keep the camera at eye level with soft frontal light.
- Take a short burst without flash and select the sharpest frame.
Check carefully
- Mouth closed and gaze as close to the camera as practical.
- Hair does not cover the eyes or facial outline.
- No helper, hands, toys or other objects are visible.
