Finnish passport photo requirements
A Finnish digital passport photo must be exactly 500 × 653 pixels, JPEG and no larger than 250 KB. It must be no more than six months old, with the face directed at the camera, a neutral expression and a light, plain background.

Pose and expression
- Head, face, gaze and shoulders toward the camera.
- Neutral expression, mouth closed and eyes open.
- The whole face visible and sharp from nose to ears.
Light, background and authenticity
- Even light without hard shadows or blown highlights.
- Light, neutral, plain background without objects.
- No beauty editing or digital changes that weaken authenticity.
Frequently asked questions
Does a technical check mean Police approval?
No. The authority evaluates the photograph with the application; the photo server does not provide authority pre-approval.
